Shed Cages

Open top cages such as DIY versions with glass or plastic fronts, or C&C cages have become an extremly popular choice for Guinean Pig housing in recent years. They are easy to build, look nice and allow lots of natural light and venitaltion into the cage.
After deciding to take down the hutches, I wanted my new cages to be spacious, easy to clean and make interacting with the guinea pigs very accessible. We designed a simple but tidy looking plan for wooden cages with waterproof bases and glass fronts. As at the time I had 3 sets of trios, we needed 3 cages but also wanted to ensure that they could easily be changed to one large cage for future groups of guinea pigs. The cages are made from completely recycled items apart from the glass that was specially ordered. We used pet safe resin to coat and waterproof the bases, but then painted them with pet safe floor paint a few months later.
