Hutches

Hutches are a very common type of housing used for Guinea Pigs and Rabbits. Hutches are easily seccured with bolts, provide good ventilation and a cosy sleeping area. I would however always recommend keeping a hutch in a shed or unused garage to ensure that your pets are completely safe from predators and weather proof.
The first DIY cage for the Guinea Pigs where two large hutches. These hutches where designed to accomodate 2 guinea pigs per hutch, and were designed on a table top for easy maintaining, cleaning and interaction.
Casper and Marley lived in the left hutch and Pippin and Bailey lived in the right hutch.
The hutches measured at 6ft x 2ft each, however before the hutches changed, we did extend the right hutch to be 8ft x 2ft.
Everything used to construct the hutches were recycled from items we had lying around. We used plastic trays in each hutch to keep it easy to clean and hygenic, rather than having them live on the wooden base of the hutch.
